Details on this year’s Beard award nominations are in, and two local chefs are among the nominees for Best Chef, Midwest: Isaac Becker of 112 Eatery and Bar La Grassa, and Lenny Russo of Heartland Restaurant and Farm Direct Market. Two Wisconsin chefs also made the cut: Tory Miller, chef/co-owner of L’Etoile in Madison (we recently reviewed Graze, L’Etoile’s gastro-pub spinoff), and Justin Aprahamian, chef of Sanford in Milwaukee. Minnesota journalists also won nominations: Amy Thielen of the Star Tribune (“Cooking with recipes”), Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl of Minnesota Monthly (restaurant criticism), and Andrew Zimmern (for “Multimedia food feature” and “Television program, on location.”) Check out full details of the 2011 Beard Award nominations here.
