Reader Rebecca wrote to us yesterday: “This may not seem like important news unless you have a connection to the southern US, where boiled peanuts are a common snack, but I saw numerous Hmong farmers at the main Minneapolis farmers market today with raw peanuts, which merely need washing and a 3-hour simmer in heavily salted water to be astounding, addictive, and a treat I never imagined I could make with local peanuts.”

I’ve seen these at both the downtown St. Paul and Burnsville farmers markets and been intrigued.
