Mississippi Market‘s new location (1500 7th St W, St. Paul, MN 55102) opened yesterday. The new facility consists of over 13,000 square feet of combined retail, indoor seating, and classroom / meeting space and is built to the gold standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

As the crowd gathered outside, Larry Dittberner, Mississippi Market member since 1987, provided entertainment.

The opening ceremony included a speeches by St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, General Manager Gail Graham, and Board President Nina Johnson. After the ribbon cutting, the first customers streamed inside to explore the location’s amenities such as the new full-sized produce area and extensive bulk food section.

On first glance, how does the new Mississippi Market compare to the new Seward Co-op?
Visited the new market yesterday — quite nice. I’m glad they decided to open the store in that area.
It’s a beautiful store and gives the neighborhood a definite boom. I’m a little closer to the Selby store, but will most likely visit both on a regular basis.
