A fairly amazing-sounding Better Beer Society brown bag series event at Butcher & the Boar, some revised menus at local restaurants, a local foodie’s epic Mother’s Day feast, tasting notes for Summit Pilsner and Steel Toe’s Provider, the Star Tribune’s Taste 50, and a new urban farm in Minneapolis.
Heidi’s will regenerate in the old Vera’s Cafe location at Lyn-Lake in Uptown, Yak and Yeti (a new Nepali / Indian / Tibetan place) is opening in the former Mairin’s Table location in Northeast, Swiss Valley Farms has acquired the Faribault Dairy Company (read our story on their massive cheese caves), a blogger calls sexism on Rachel’s recent City Pages menu story [via Urbanfoodie], details on the DFL BBQ, St. Paul shuts down a troubled Frogtown bar, a great Viognier wine available at Haskell’s, and the ever-helpful City Pages month in review of openings and closings.

Good for Heidi’s, but it’s too bad they couldn’t find another spot in South Minneapolis.
I don’t have any beef against Swiss Valley, but still the news of the sale is a bit sad. I hope whatever agreement is in place won’t end up diluting the amazing products the Faribault Dairy Company has been churning out.
