Snap Pizza: Closed

The website for Snap Pizza & Ice Cream is still up. But a chowhound says Snap is closed for good, and their phone number has been “temporarily disconnected,” which doesn’t sound promising. UPDATE: A call to Pop! confirmed the closing. Apparently it shut down a couple weeks ago.

R.I.P. Morton’s

A call to the sales office at Morton’s confirmed a rumor that the Minneapolis branch of the national steakhouse chain called it quits this morning, citing trying economic times and diminished profits. The closing is effective immediately.  UPDATE: Closings in Westchester (IL) last Sunday and Southfield (MI) last Friday also confirmed.

Espresso Royale on Washington Goes Down

The 614 Washington Ave. S.E. Espresso Royale has shut down, leaving two other locations still operating in Minneapolis. The company website’s description of the location: “…the company’s only cafe run entirely by its crew. And who said socialism never works?” Erk. Apparently the free market did, in this case.
