Dara Dents Bar La Grassa’s Shine

Dara, writing in Minnesota Monthly, has penned what may be the first non-gushing thing yet written about the insanely popular Bar La Grassa. “Most of what I tried tasted unfinished,” she writes of the appetizers; most pasta “was good but not great”; and of the carrot cake: “Ever been to a wedding? It’s that carrot cake.”

Has to be chef-driven fine-dining if Beard people are even looking at it. Has to have been open for at least 4-5 years and has to feature a male chef based based on her verbage. Ruling out McKee and Becker, it could only be one of 3 places in the Twin Cities. Pretty sure I know which one she’s talking about, but I’m not saying because I happen to like the guy.

What’s clear to me, though, is that very few people are reading dara’s blog any more. She dropped a bomb in that piece and it took almost a week for anyone to notice. Hope her book is selling well.

I might be mistaken, but I thought Dara’s review (with a blog post linking to it) just went online yesterday (Monday).

Ok, so is it Saint Alex? It can’t be Saint Steven Brown because he has never held a gig for longer than a few months. The “new” guy at Cosmos? Saint Vincent?

Heidi’s hasn’t been open long enough to be the culprit. plus (not that I’m biased, but) we all know Woodman and Vlach are killing it on a nightly basis. ;)
