The folks at Paws Animal Rescue of Pierre, South Dakota, are responding to a surge in the number of homeless animals in their area, after flooding on the Missouri River this summer.
Paws is staging a silent auction in October to raise money for the animals in their care, and a Twin Cities getaway is one of the packages they’re offering. A personal note: My wife Becca and I lost our beloved cat Briscoe this summer to a neurological disease. We adopted two charming black kittens from Paws and owe them a debt of gratitude for the work that they do.
