Fans of the annual coming of Surly’s big ol’ imperial stout take note. Via MNBeer: “2500+ bottles of Darkness will be sold to liquor stores November 2, in addition to the 5000 bottles to be sold at brewery Oct. 24, where the first 800 people will be able to buy up to 6 bottles.”

A New Sample Room

The Sample Room (2124 Marshall St., Minneapolis) has promoted Matt Paulson from Sous Chef to Executive Chef and overhauled its menu. New items include braised bison on mashed potatoes ($7), roasted squash risotto with rainbow chard, blue cheese, and toasted pumpkin seeds ($14), and wild mushroom ragout on polenta with truffle oil ($7.25).
