Becker Wins a Beard Award and Morning Roundup

Isaac Becker of 112 Eatery and Bar La Grassa wins the Beard Award for Best Chef: Midwest, the New York Times writes up the Minneapolis bakery boom (they got Bars, Sweets, Salty Tart, and Patisserie 46; missed Sun Street), Rick shouts out three good neighborhood Italian restaurants, there’s a new local gourmet ice pops business called 10,000 Licks in the making (ready-to-roll flavors include Sweet Corn and Watermelon Mint), and Sameh Wadi of Saffron is fighting for his life in round two of’s 2011 Innovators showdown. (He was also serving food last night at the Beard Awards.)
