In Defense of the Barbary Fig

A chowhound defends the Barbary Fig, which seems like a strange thing to have to do — they seem to turn out consistently well-executed, delightfully light, Mediterranean-style food. What’s the bad rap on this seemingly excellent place?

I completely agree. I’ve been puzzled by some of the bad reviews I’ve read too. Not only has the food been delicious each time I’ve eaten there, but (as far as this Minnesota-raised gal can tell) it’s pretty authentic and original too. You’d also be hard pressed to find a more gracious, colorful host than Hadj. And considering how much he does in that kitchen, single-handedly, that makes the place even more impressive.
