Sponsorships Manager
For nearly five years, The Heavy Table has covered food and drink in the Upper Midwest, with one of the most engaged audiences in the area. Our team of writers, editors, and photographers has been sustained by support from advertisers and sponsored content partners, but we need a team member to build ongoing marketing and community relationships necessary to help our organization thrive and grow.
We’re seeking to bring on a new team member to help build The Heavy Table’s commercial partnerships with the local business community. The ideal candidate has relationship management and sales experience as well as an editorial sensibility capable of understanding and communicating our unique voice, value, and place in the marketplace. She or he will need to have sharp communication skills, be capable of self-directed work, and be able to contribute strategic direction to the website. We are also open to new and creative ideas to connect local businesses and organizations to our audience in a way that is relevant and not intrusive to our readers, fair to The Heavy Table, and beneficial to our sponsors.
This contract position will start at quarter time (in terms of both hours and compensation) and may easily grow over the next 6-12 months to much more if the applicant is energetic, willing, and effective. Compensation will be commission-based with an initial monthly minimum retainer to ensure a smooth incoming transition.

Contributing Writer
The Heavy Table is seeking a new contributing writer to tackle restaurant reviews, purveyor profiles, event recaps, and other local food news items.
The ideal candidate will be curious about many aspects of local food and drink, have a journalism background and / or professional writing experience, and be willing and able to report their work through on-site visits, phone calls, and second-source research. He or she will be interested in writing stories that are timely and in tune with the interests of our audience.
