A fairly amazing-sounding Better Beer Society brown bag series event at Butcher & the Boar, some revised menus at local restaurants, a local foodie’s epic Mother’s Day feast, tasting notes for Summit Pilsner and Steel Toe’s Provider, the Star Tribune’s Taste 50, and a new urban farm in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will proclaim this Saturday, May 22, as Minneapolis Farmers Market Appreciation Day. The day celebrates the market’s 230 vendors and its role in achieving the goals of the city’s Homegrown Minneapolis program. From 8-9am at Market Square (312 E. Lyndale Ave. N), the Fresh & Local radio show broadcasts live on AM950; from 9-9:30am, Rybak makes his proclamation along with City Council President Barb Johnson and farmers market growers including sixth-generation grower Marlene Brooks and new American grower Boun Thao.
