Some appealing food facts about Minnesota via the Dairy Business Innovation Center newsletter [PDF]: “In a national survey conducted by SustainLane, Minneapolis was rated number one in local foods consumption among the 50 most-populous US cities… Farmers markets have increased statewide from 45 in 2002, to 108 in 2009… The Twin Cities area has more independent food cooperatives than any other major metropolitan area in the country — over 66,000 area residents are members of a food cooperative (roughly 2 percent of the population).”
