No-mayo potato salad, grass-fed mini burgers, crunchy swai with basil-goat cheese potato puree, curried pea soup, pickled rhubarb (etc.), white bean ragout, Italian sausage grill with gnocchi, leftover oatmeal pancakes, and cheddar chive buttermilk biscuits with extra creamy scrambled eggs.
Gluten free. Lactose free. Vegan. USDA organic. MOSA organic. If there were any more claims on this Ixonia, WI-made sesame snack bar, there’d be no room to print the name of the product on the wrapper. That aside, Oskri‘s approach to the snack itself is relatively straightforward: its sesame bars are flavored with wholesome sweeteners such as date syrup or molasses, and are nothing more than rice syrup, sesame seeds and a flavoring.
The bars (which are thin as heck and come three to a pack) are light and brittle, crunchy with being overly sharp and a bit sweet without being overpowering. It’s a mature approach to a casual dessert, executed with subtlety — the difference between the date syrup and molasses bars, for example, was difficult to discern due to the mellow-but-dominant note of sesame seeds.
If you dig those little honey/sesame candies found at most Middle Eatern markets, you’ll likely enjoy this Midwestern reinterpretation. Seward Co-op carries them, and they’re conveniently available right near the cash register, for $1.19.
