Lunds, Byerly’s, Kowalski’s, and Festival Foods are slated to carry the debut of the new SweeTango apple, described in its marketing push as “a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar varieties… both sweet and tart with hints of fall spices.” If you try one, drop us a comment. Is it the next Honeycrisp? Or a fruity fizzle?

They’re amazing. HoneyCrisps have lacked the quality control that they’re requiring of SweeTango farmers. The last two times I’ve gone apple picking in search of Honeycrisp I get small, bitter versions of the original. SweeTangos deserve all the good press they’ve been receiving. Bravo UofM!
