The excellent Mexican-Ecuadorian restaurant La Vina (at Lake St. and 4th Ave. S) is closing its doors after this weekend, citing high rent and a recent robbery. In my City Pages review of the place, I wrote: “With its disarmingly simple dining room, and without packing much gastronomic pretense, La Vina executes its dual mandate with a level of skill and joy that should, if there’s any justice, keep the place humming for years.” Ah well.
