Announcing North Coast Nosh III

Katie Cannon / Heavy Table

Editor’s note: North Coast Nosh III is officially sold out.

The Heavy Table and Open Arms of Minnesota are pleased to announce the third edition of the North Coast Nosh sip-and-sample event. Guests will taste a carefully curated selection of local foods and beverages (including honey, beer, baked goods, wine, charcuterie and more) and have a chance to talk one-on-one with some of the area’s leading purveyors.

This 21-and-up event will run from 5:30-9pm on Friday, Jan. 20, and will be held at the spacious and gracefully appointed new headquarters of Open Arms at 2500 Bloomington Ave. S. in Minneapolis. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Open Arms Minnesota and their mission of cooking and delivering meals to people suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

The Heavy Table always assesses value when it writes about local restaurants, so we thought we’d turn that same lens on our own event. Therefore: What does your $19 ticket get you?

Good Food: We’ll have a squadron of creative bites including the Thai food of Gai Gai Thai, the fine pastry of Patisserie 46, the cheese of Burnett Dairy Cooperative, and much more.

Good Drink: Local craft beer is blowing up at an unprecedented pace; Minnesota wine is hitting new heights. Plus, sample the award-winning and sophisticated flavor of Joia soda and the diverse array of craft ciders offered by Crispin.

Good Conversation: The North Coast Nosh is designed to have 10-15 attendees per vendor, ensuring ample opportunity for vendors and visitors to connect, and giving guests the chance to enjoy a relaxed, civilized sampling environment.

Glassware: Attendees will receive a custom-printed North Coast Nosh / Caves of Faribault whiskey tumbler sponsored by the generous folks at the Faribault Dairy Company.

We hope to see you there!

This is probably a stupid question.. but does the above mean that food (samples, I assume) from the above vendors come free with the $19 ticket? Or are getting the *opportunity* to *buy* food from the above vendors?

Ah, I guess we can never be too clear about that, can we? All the food and drink at the event is in the form of free samples. Nothing bought or sold at the event.

How can we find out about this before seeing it in the Strib (today) by which time it’s already sold out?! Went to NCNII at Peace Coffee. So fun. What a great way to fund-raise!

Deb, appreciate the kind words. If you follow us on Twitter (@heavytable), you can hear about it as soon as we start selling tickets, and we’ll always have a link to buy tickets on our Events page. We’re lining up the next one for mid-April, so keep your eyes peeled. Hope to see you then!

This is my first time attending. Are we expected to be there precisely at 5:30, or is it more of a come any time between 5:30-9 sort of thing?

Melissa, shoot me a note (editor@heavytable.com) with your Google Checkout info and I’ll look into it and get back to you. They definitely should have arrived by now.

My wife and I are attending tomorrow. I assume jeans are appropriate attire? Thanks for your response! We are really looking forward to the event. Glad we bought the tickets as soon as they were available.
