A fairly amazing-sounding Better Beer Society brown bag series event at Butcher & the Boar, some revised menus at local restaurants, a local foodie’s epic Mother’s Day feast, tasting notes for Summit Pilsner and Steel Toe’s Provider, the Star Tribune’s Taste 50, and a new urban farm in Minneapolis.
Yesterday, two cigars and an invitation scroll arrived in a cardboard tube that had been FedExed to my house. Here’s the story: General Cigar, in conjunction with the release of the The Benji Menendez Partagas Master Series Majestuoso, is inviting folks to RSVP for an upcoming launch shindig in Chicago. Up to 50 Heavy Table readers (aged 21 and up) can attend. If you’re going to be in Chicago on Dec. 8 from 6-8pm, consider RSVPing with the following code: A19681C. The location will be announced via email to registered guests, although the exact nature of the event is kind of mysterious.

I’m all for mysterious parties, but unfortunately will not be in Chicago then. But I’m in if the mysterious location happens to be Minneapolis.
Minneapolis is also much more mysterious than Chicago, in my opinion, and thus a better setting. Being located up here, all north-y and central-y, we have a much better claim to being full of wonder and hidden secrets.
chicago cigar release party. sounds douchetacular. i’ll don my ed hardy gear and gel up the mane.
